Donald E. Fischer was born March 5, 1930 and died on September 16, 2017. He is survived by Mary Kay Moorman Fischer, his wife of 62 years. (9/17/55) Don is survived by his 4 children and their families: JoEllen (Fischer) & Joe Puls and son Joe Puls (Jessie); Nan Fischer and Rose Monnin; Dave Fischer and sons David & Grant; Dan Fischer & Eileen Kuethe Fischer; Nina and Derek.

Don knew the value of a hard day’s work and was a good provider for his family. From the time he was 8 to age 73 he held some type of job, starting out as a paperboy for the Hamilton Journal and often working part time in addition to his full time work. He attended St.Ann's grade school; Roosevelt Jr. High and Hamilton High. He served in the US Navy Reserve from 1948-1956.

Don was proud to be a lifelong resident of Hamilton and faithfully attended Hamilton's Memorial Day and 4th of July parades.  From birth to age 7 he lived on North 9th St. then moved to Lindenwald. When he married in 1955 he bought his first house on Bishop Ave and later moved to Glenbrook Drive where he lived for 52 years. Between his early paper route days, then years of driving for Coca-Cola, French Bauer dairy, and as bus driver of Hamilton City Schools, there wasn't a street in Hamilton he didn't know.

Don was an active member of the Kof C, the Hamilton German American Society, and St.Ann's PAC.  He also attended every class reunion of Hamilton High's class of 1948.

Don donated his body to UC medical school and would jokingly say that he was finally going to college.
Memorial donations can be made in his name to The Neediest Kids of All, 312 Elm St. #20 Cincinnati, OH 45202; http://www.neediestkidsofall.com

One of Don's guiding beliefs was to "leave 'em laughing” and he greatly succeeded at that, always quick with a joke, a hearty laugh, and a humorous story to tell.
A Celebration of Life/Irish Wake will be held at a later date where family and friends can gather to celebrate the life of Don Fischer.
