Juanita J. (Johnson) Hazelwood

HAZELWOOD

Juanita J., age 99, of Middletown, formerly of Wayne Township, went to be with the Lord on November 18, 2017.  She was born on May 26, 1918 in London, KY to Reece and Lucille Johnson.  On October 25, 1935 in Liberty, IN she married Oris Hazelwood, he precedes her in death. 

Juanita spent her career as a secretary in the Edgewood City Schools for 38 years and retired in 1997 at the age of 79.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of Hamilton.  Previously, Juanita was a Sunday school teacher, member of the Finance Committee, and a Deaconess and also a charter member of Immanuel Baptist Church of Hamilton.  The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of Hawthorn Glen for the care they gave Juanita during her stay.

Juanita is survived by her devoted children, David (Janet) Hazelwood and Richard (Anne) Hazelwood; grandchildren, Suzanne (Michael) Garver, Melynda Hazelwood, and Jeff (Stacey) Hazelwood; and great grandchildren, Alayna Garver and Andrew Garver.  She is also survived by other family members and her church family.  Juanita is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, Thornton R. Johnson.

Visitation will be Friday, November 24, 2017 from 1-2 p.m. at the Avance Funeral Home and Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., 45014.  Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Dr. Dan Clemens officiating.  Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park.  Memorial contributions may be given to First Baptist Church.
