R. Kent Mathias

MATHIAS

R. Kent, age 73, of Fairfield passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 13, 2018. He was born on July 14, 1944 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late, Ray K. and Doris L. (nee Aschbacher) Mathias. Kent was a passionate, loving, religious, and hard working man who was extremely devoted to his family. In his spare time he loved spending time with his family, relaxing on the beach, cooking, volunteering for the church, playing board games and helping others.

Kent was a Realtor and a real estate appraiser with Mathias Real Estate which was established by his grandfather, Joseph Mathias. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Nova Caesarea Harmony Lodge No. 2 where he was a Past Master.

Kent was an extremely loving and devoted husband to his wife Susan. He was extremely proud of his three amazing children, Julie Mansu and her husband, Eddie, Connie Mathias, and Kurt Mathias and his wife, Nikki. Kent was a very loving and involved grandfather of his beautiful grandchildren, David, Hailie, Aaliyah, Mirah, Jordan, and Ivy. He is also survived by his siblings, Carole (Glen) Ballinger, Doree Mathias, and Thom (Diane) Mathias. Brother in law to Debi (Doug) Mills, Nancy Davis, Steve (Maddy) Vandegriff, Becky (Jack) Connelly, and Mark Vandegriff.

Kent was preceded in death by his parents and father and mother in law, Paul and Hope Vandegriff.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Vineyard Community Church Chapel, 11340 Century Circle E., Springdale, Ohio 45246 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Funeral service will follow at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Rob King officiating.  Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be offered to Hospice of Butler Warren, 5940 Longmeadow Drive, Franklin, Ohio 45005.
