Wayne Joseph Homer

Mr. Wayne Joseph Homer died peacefully after a hard-fought battle with brain cancer on January 18, 2018 in Cincinnati, Ohio, at the age of 78.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife Linda (ne Giles); his children and their spouses, John and Amy Homer of Fort Thomas, Kentucky, Jonathan and Jill Homer Breitenstein of Louisville, Kentucky and James and Sarah Homer of Lewis Center, Ohio; his devoted grandchildren, Jacob and Joshua Homer, Lily and Benjamin Breitenstein, and Ava and Anderson Homer; and his siblings, Gary Homer, Linda Hardgrove, Shirley Cushard, and Joe Homer Jr.
Wayne was born on September 8, 1939 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Joseph Homer and Bertha Homer (ne Hildebrand). He graduated from Central High School in 1957. After three years of active duty service with the United States Army, Wayne continued his education, earning an Associate degree from Urbana College, a Bachelors of Science degree in Secondary Education from Ohio State University and a Masters of Education from the University of Cincinnati.  He dedicated his life to educating the youth of Cincinnati and worked as a teacher, counselor and as an administrator in the Cincinnati Public School system. Following retirement from Cincinnati Public Schools, Wayne continued his career as a guidance counselor at the Covington Latin School from 1994 to 2009. 
Wayne and Linda enjoyed celebrating 50 years of marriage last September. Wayne was a loving, dedicated husband and father, and his children are grateful for his love, his positive outlook on life, and the lessons he taught. Wayne was known for his love of music, the outdoors, sports, travel and, mostly, family activities. He was a lifelong runner. Wayne and Linda enjoyed Christian fellowship at Northern Hills Bible Chapel, 1155 West Galbraith Rd., Cincinnati, Ohio 45231. Wayne was active in summer camp ministries at Northern Hills Bible Chapel and in retirement he and Linda volunteered for Wycliffe Bible Translators.
Visitation is scheduled Friday, January 26, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Northern Hills Bible Chapel, with a funeral service to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Wayne's life.
