RONALD E. EMMEL

Ronald E. Emmel of Fairfield, 80, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2023 at Hospice of Cincinnati. He was born to the late Hedwig and William Emmel in Appleton, Wisconsin on March 9, 1943. He leaves behind his beloved wife Ellen (Heeg) of 42 years. Ron was the loving father of Chris Emmel (the late Brigetta Delgado-Emmel) of Seattle, WA; Steve Emmel of Cincinnati, OH; Greg Emmel (Cara) of Daniel Island, SC; Diane (Garrett) Gilreath of Cincinnati, OH. The adoring grandfather of Samantha and Chloe Gilreath, Brooke and Cate Emmel. He is also survived by his brother Herb Emmel (Faye) of Sanford, MI and his sister Ruth Emmel of North Ft. Myers, FL; his sisters-in-law Lois Slivka (the late Larry) of West Harrison, IN and Linda Gerding (Bob) of Cincinnati. He also had numerous nieces and nephews that held special places in his heart.
His unyielding support of Badger nation began before Ron graduated from University of Wisconsin with his MBA in 1966. After graduate school he served in the Air Force Reserves at Wright-Patterson. Eventually, he transitioned to a career serving in leadership positions at Chrysler Automotive, Standex/Standard Publishing, and Federated Department Stores. His business travels allowed him to develop a love of reading, particularly historical fiction, that continued through the years. As a lifelong  learner he impressed on his four children that education is key. Ron also developed such a talent for cooking, that every family member had their own favorite recipe which he would prepare for their homecoming. In retirement, his wife, children and his four granddaughters were the light in his life. 
Ron will continue to change lives through his gift to LifeCenter.
A small private Celebration of Life will be held amongst family and close friends. Until the time they can be interred together at Crownhill Memorial, he will remain with his wife.
