James J. Reddy, age 88, died on Sunday, June 25, 2017, at Silver Lake Nursing Home in Dover, DE. James was born April 7, 1929, in Shenandoah, PA, the son of James J. and Barbara (Gannon) Reddy. On April 21, 1951, James married Julia M. McMonigle in Philadelphia, PA. Before retiring, James was employed at Ohio Casualty Insurance Company. James was also a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fairfield and a Forth Degree Knight of the Father Butler Council of the Knights of Columbus.
James is survived by his children: son, James E. (Deceased - Patricia) Reddy of Fairfield; daughters, Julia (James) Pillsbury, D.O. of Dover, DE, Mary Alice (Roger) Scott of Highland Heights, KY, Anne Reddy, M.D. of Virginia Beach, VA. And 11 grandchildren: James M. (Jennifer) Reddy, Tracie Reddy, Kristine Reddy, Michelle (Jon) Sears, Kyle Rowsey, Sarah Rowsey, John R. (Sarah) Pillsbury, Michael B. Pillsbury, Timothy (Karen) DeVita, Stephanie (John) Gutendorf, and Laura DeVita, MD, and 13 Great Grandchildren: Dimitry Soaz, Erin Soaz, Julia Reddy, Aiden James Reddy, Archer Michael Reddy, Rhea Dent, Abigail Sears, Joshua Sears, Seth Sears, Jack Gutendorf, Samuel Gutendorf, Marlee Rathfon and Katherine Rathfon. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Barbara Reddy; his wife, Julia M. Reddy, his daughter, Barbara Rowsey of Dayton, OH; 2 sons, Paul and Michael; great-grandson, David Elijah Sears, and his brothers, Joseph Reddy, Philadelphia, PA and John Reddy of Shenandoah, PA.
Jim was an avid Bengals fan and season ticket holder since 1983. He was also active in his Church and his children’s activities. He served as President of Badin High School’s Catham and Rams Clubs; President of CYO at St. Paul’s RC Church, Norristown, PA., where he served as Santa Claus, director of Bingo, and where he started a football team for youth. He also started and coached a pee wee baseball league, the Reddy Reds vs the Kelly Greens. He continued to support his grandchildren in their many activities.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday July 1 at Sacred Heart Church, 400 Nilles Rd., Fairfield, OH. Entombment will follow at St. Stephen Cemetery.
