GABBARD, Oskie Florence (Jones)
Oskie (Jones) Gabbard, went home to be with the Lord on August 22, 2019 at Edgewater Place Plain City, Ohio while under Hospice Care. She was born July 6, 1922 to the late William Harvey & Maude (Stump) Jones; also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Hugh Gabbard; grandson Kevin Gabbard, sister Iris Sheetz, brother Clark Jones, and son Eldon Gabbard.
Survived by son, Darrel (Brenda) Gabbard, Dublin,OH; grandson Chris Gabbard, Dublin, OH; granddaughter Kim [Scott] Collins of Dayton, OH; great granddaughter Samantha Gabbard of Columbus, OH, and nephew Frank Sheetz of Cincinnati.
Son, Keith [Jamie] Gabbard of Leesburg, Florida, grandchildren, Patty Gabbard, Hamilton, OH, Mike Gabbard Leesburg, Florida & Pam[Scott] Feltner Camden,OH; Great grandchildren: Brittany, Destiny, Kyle & Chrissy.
Daughter-in-law: Rita Gabbard, grandsons: Eldon Gabbard, Jr., Tom [Amy] Gabbard & Danny Gabbard all of Hamilton, OH. Great-grandchildren: Emily, Katie & Evan,
When Oskie was a teenager she committed her life to Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized as a member of Laurel River Missionary Baptist Church near London, KY. She was a faithful devoted wife, and loving mother. She enjoyed singing in church choirs and gospel quartets with her husband Hugh, and playing the guitar, sewing, beautiful flowers, reading, and being a homemaker. She and her husband Hugh were founding members of The First Baptist Church of Fairfield and Southern Hills Baptist Church, Hamilton. She most recently was a member and faithful attender of Rolling Hills Baptist Church. In later years she joined with other ladies to visit people in nursing homes until her health began to decline.
The family will welcome friends Tuesday, August 27th from 10am to 12pm at Avance Funeral Home, Fairfield, Ohio, with the service to follow at 12 pm with Pastor Danny Rollins officiating. Interment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton, Ohio.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to the workers at Edgwater Place for the the loving care given to Oskie and the wonderful care and support given to Oskie and our family from Summit Hospice.
