A. Roberta Smith

A. Roberta Smith, age 68 of Fairfield passed away Thursday September 15, 2005 at Hospice of Hamilton-at Sunrise. She was born November 23, 1936 in Combs, KY, the daughter of Charley and Alice (Hansford) Craynon. On June 30, 1956 she married Virgil Smith in Combs, KY. Roberta was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church. She was also 1987 Past Matron and member of Washington Chapter No. 195, Order Eastern Star.

Roberta is survived by her husband of 49 years, Virgil Smith; daughter, Debra (David) Homer; granddaughters, Erica Hodges and Lacie Hinkle; sisters, Inis Angelo and Irene Rogers; and nephew Robert Helton with whom she was raised with and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ila Strunk; brothers-in-law, Clyde Strunk and Carl Rogers; and nephews, Bill Strunk and Gary Rogers.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to those who helped in caring for mom during our time of need.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Monday September 19, 2005 at the St. Mark's United Methodist Church, corner of Symmes and Fairfield Avenues. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. - until time of service, Monday at the church. Burial will follow at Butler County Memorial Park. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Sunday September 18 at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield with Eastern Star Service beginning at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Mark's United Methodist Church or to Hospice of Hamilton.
