Al Foster

Al Foster, age 74 of Fairfield joined his wife of 45 years on June 27, 2004. He was born November 15, 1929, the son of Charlie and Belva (DePew) Foster in Hamilton. Al graduated from Hamilton High School in 1947 and later graduated from Salmon P. Chase Business College. Al and Imogene Foster were united in marriage on June 14, 1958 at the New Salem Methodist Church in Knoxville, TN. Al worked at Westinghouse Materials Company of Ohio as Manager of Productivity and Radiological Improvements where he retired in 1995. He also served his community as councilman for 17 years and was an active member of the Fairfield Optimist Club for over 30 years. He enjoyed playing and watching golf, going to the horse races, playing cards, organizing and participating in the Optimist turkey shoots, listening to music, and growing tomatoes.

Al is survived by his son, Steve (Anne) Foster; daughter Kelly (Phil) Wepking; grandchildren Sarah, Matt, Ben, Madison, Kendall, Trystan and Delaney; mother Belva Foster; brother Doug (Kathy) Foster; sisters Lois Christensen, Nancy (Rob) Wile, and Sue (Marty) Updyke. Al was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene; and father, Charlie Foster.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Thursday, July 1, 2004 at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield with Rev. Robert Denny officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Fairfield Optimist Club, P.O.
