Alberta Jones

Alberta Cook Jones, age 93, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2011, at Doverwood Health Care, surrounded by her four daughters, and Sue Lowery

Alberta was born March 12, 1918 in Hamilton, and was raised by her Aunt Emma Cook and sister Mildred Tipton. She graduated from Hamilton High School in 1936, attended Hamilton Business College and retired from the Butler County Care Facility. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Jones, and is survived by family; Marilyn and Bob Rumpler of Hamilton,

Nancy and Dan Chaney of Fairfield, Diane and Dave Evans, of Hamilton and Sherry and Art West of Scottsdale AZ. She was cherished "Grandma Jones" to Yvonne, Bobby, Chris, Jenny, Brian, Kelly, and Matthew, and great-grandma Jones to Mandy, Brandy, Austin, Noah, Jayden, Jaycie, Mason, Danny, Holland, Griffin and Adrien.

Mom was a wonderful and devoted mother, she was an active senior citizen and enjoyed dancing with the Senior Steppers, traveling, shopping, and decorating her home. She was very creative and had a special touch with roses! Mom adored "I Love Lucy" and Cary Grant. Her nickname was "Cookie".

Our mom had a kind and gentle spirit and will always be remembered for her generosity and dedication to others, and missed by the many friends close neighbors and relatives who loved her and raised her daughters to be the same. If everyone was like our mom, the world would be a more beautiful place! Her life was a model of care giving, and mom will be remembered by all those whose lives she touched.

The family extends their grateful appreciation to the nurses and staff of Doverwood for the loving care given to Mom in the last three years and to Hospice of Southwest Ohio in her last days. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of Southwest Ohio, 7625 Camargo Road, Cincinnati, OH 45243.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 21, 2011 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Avance Funeral Home and Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd. Fairfield, OH 45014. Funeral service will follow at noon at the funeral home, Orville Roach officiating.
