Alice Roy

Age 63, of Hamilton, OH passed away on Thursday, November 04, 2010. She was born in Laurel Co., KY on August 9, 1947, the daughter of James and Nannie (Lewis) Maggard. She is survived by two daughters, Carla (Pat) Settle of Spring City, TN and Cathy (David) Carlson of Blanchester, OH; three grandchildren, Kevin (Jessica) Tindle, Amy Tindle, Jeff Carlson; two great-grandchildren,

Justin Funk and Ace Tindle; and her loving partner of 11 years, Roscoe Durham. She also had many nieces, nephews (great and great-great). She was preceded in death by her above mentioned parents and her two sisters, Mary Leet and Joyce Maggard and her dear friend, Caroline Frazzie.

Alice worked for 38 years in the school bus transportation system. She spent 15 years at Goshen Local Schools, 15 years at Hamilton City Schools and 8 years with Monroe Local Schools (Peterman Bus Service). She was a driver, trainer and mentor to many. She also worked as a bartender and cashier in Goshen and Hamilton where she met and made many friends over the years.

Alice chose to be cremated. Her ashes will be placed along side her mother at Graceland Memorial Gardens in Goshen, OH. It was Alice's choice to not have a funeral or lay out. She prefers that her family and friends remember her as she was and celebrate her life with joy. Her daughters will hold a celebration of life from 5-9p.m., Friday, November 12, 2010 at The VSW, 4021 Trenton Road, New Miami. All friends and family are welcome to bring a covered dish and memories to share. In lieu of flowers please make donations to your local animal shelter or humane society on Alice's behalf.
