Alma C Holmes

Age 97 of Hamilton passed away Friday, August 27, 2010 at Hillendale Nursing Care Facility. She was born October 6, 1912 in Cass, WV, the daughter of William and Alice (Rayburn) Siple. On February 24, 1940 Alma married William H. Holmes in Covington, KY. She worked as an Registered Nurse for the City of Hamilton Public Health Department retiring January 12, 1979. Alma was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church of Hamilton where she served as a Deaconess and sang in the choir. She was also a member of Washington Chapter No. 195, O.E.S. Alma enjoyed her family, church family and was an avid Red's fan.

Alma leaves behind her daughters, Helen (John) Evans and Debra Sandlin; grandchildren, Scott McGeorge, Lisa Sandlin and Kelly Sandlin; and great-grandchildren, Seth, MacKenzie and Brianna. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 6 siblings; great-grandchild, Caden; and step-children, Ranny, Bobbie Jane, and Jackie.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Hillendale Staff and Hospice of Cincinnati for all of their loving care.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. - until time of Eastern Star Services (11:30 a.m.), followed by funeral services (12 Noon), Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield with Dr. Dennis Metzger and Rev. William C. Brantingham officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Hamilton, 1501 Pyramid Hill, Hamilton, OH 45013 or Hospice of Cincinnati.
