Alton Taylor

Beloved husband of Helen A. (Krumm) Taylor for sixty-two years; Loving father to Jim Taylor of Fairfield, OH and Sherry Wilder of West Chester, OH; Devoted Papa to Grandchildren: Bradley, Brittany & Blake Wilder; father-in-law to Steven Wilder, brother to Margaret Jakobowski of Dayton, OH.

A resident of Fairfield for thirty-seven years, he was born in Virginia to the late James and Amelia Taylor and grew up in Schenectady, NY. He attended Mount Pleasant High School where he served as Vice President of his class all three years and was Vice President of the Boys Athletic Association.

He was a WWII Veteran, a 1st LT B17 Flight Navigator, of 27 European Theater combat missions and famine food relief aide drops in Holland with the 8th Air Force 490th Bomb Group. Al attended Union College, Schenectady, NY, where he was Vice President of his class, and was a post war graduate Civil Engineer of Iowa State University, with a distinguished career with Republic Steel, U.S. Steel, and Dayton Builders Supply.

He played American Legion Baseball and continued his love for the sport by coaching his son and grandson. He enjoyed attending his grandsons' many baseball games and his granddaughter's dance recitals and volleyball games.

He passed away August 16, 2010, age 87. Services are, Friday, August 20, 2010 at Lindenwald United Methodist Church, 3501 Pleasant Ave. Hamilton, OH, 45015, (corner of Pleasant Ave. and Hayes Ave.) Visitation is 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m., with the Funeral Service at 1 p.m. Burial is to follow after the church service at Rose Hill Cemetery.
