WEAVER

Alverta, passed away at Mercy Hospital Fairfield, July 23, 2012, age 88, after suffering for a short time from recent health issues. Alverta was preceded in death by mother and father, Arthur and Elsie Luechauer; sisters Marilyn (Joseph) Bacher and Saloma Burer; and husband, John.

Alverta leaves her loving daughters Nancy Wenning (Dan) and Amy Weaver (Steve Hayes); precious grandson Joseph (Brandy) Wenning; sister-in-law Janet Thompson; and brothers-in-law Dr. David Weaver and Robert Burer; and many friends, nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to many people, especially those who cared for Alverta at the Pavilion; her wonderful friends that made her life so enjoyable; and Pastor Dan McDowell for helping her keep the faith.

Alverta was born in Hamilton and raised in Fairfield, on property long since developed providing housing and industry for a growing city. Alverta made headlines in the Fairfield Echo in 2007 as one of Fairfield's longest living residents. She commented in the story that she used to sled down the hill where Mercy Hospital now stands. Before graduating from Fairfield High School in 1942 (now Central Elementary), Alverta had already led a very full life, working on the family farm, and watching the family's amazement when electricity made its debut. (She also got in a bit of trouble at the age of 12 when she took off in the family's first car - running into the garage wall and losing the bumper!)

Alverta had a passion for many things, including travel (she liked to share stories about her ride on the Concorde), the Cincinnati Bengals and Reds ... and bling. Lots of bling! Many Fairfield residents have fond memories of Alverta's ever-presence at the Lane Library where she worked for 16 years, retiring in 1994. She most recently sang in the Choir at the Pavilion in Fairfield, the last place she called home. "The Pavilionaires" were started when Alverta and her dear friend Maureen Schwab wanted to establish a creative outlet for the residents. Alverta sang in church and school choirs and played the saxophone in the Fairfield Marching Band in 1938. We're certain Alverta has already joined the choir angels in heaven, and no doubt those angels' robes will soon be covered in sequins!
