Amos Edward Scott

Amos Edward, age 93, son of the late George Dewey and Emma Scott passed away on January 11, 2018. Edward was born on January 21, 1924 in Newport, KY. He was a loving son, brother, husband, dad, granddad and great granddad.

Edward leaves his cherished bride of 67 years Elsie (nee Miller); children, Gary (Janet) Scott, OH and Lynn (Kirk) Hanson, NV; grandchildren, Alex (Casey) Scott, OH, Tiffany (Tim) Perkins, NV, and Blake (Brittany) Hanson, NV; and 5 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Laura (Bob) Short, Isabella (Gaston) Bowling, Ardella (Ed) Redwine, Louvada (Paul) Sunderhous, and many nieces, nephews, and other family.

Edward is preceded in death by his siblings, Gladys (Leroy) Morris, Marie (Omer) Allen, Shirley (Mose) Phillips, Rowland Scott, and Lyndsey Scott.

Edward attended school in Crooked Creek, KY. He was drafted into the United States Army at the age of 18. He served three years from June 29, 1943 until his Honorable Discharge on Easter Sunday 1946. His military specialty was as an Ambulance Service Driver. He received the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon, EAME Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Unit Award, and Victory Medal World War II.

After serving his country, Edward worked for 42 years as a machinist at the Champion Paper Company in Hamilton, OH. He enjoyed farming in OH and IN. Edward was a member of the Tri County Assembly in Fairfield, OH. Upon his retirement he and his wife moved to Ft. Meyers, FL.

Edward will be missed by all those lives that he has touched. His journey ends on Earth but his heavenly residence has been established. Our loss is heaven’s gain.

Visitation will be Tuesday, January 23, 2018 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Avance Funeral Home and Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield, OH 45014. Funeral service will begin at 12 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be offered to Tri County Assembly Children’s Services.
