Ben Burton, age 81 of Hamilton passed away Saturday April 2, 2005 at West Chester Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born February 14, 1924 in Richmond, Ky. the son of John and Hazel (Gordon) Burton. On June 11,1960 he married Mabel Smith Ward in Hamilton. Ben valiantly served his country during WWII in England, Belgium and Germany from 1943 to 1946 with the US Army. Ben was a man of many talents, he taught welding ,was a professional painter and was owner and operator of Hamilton Qualty Meats before his retirement in 1992. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends. His favorite place for fishing was Barbeau, Michigan. Ben loved watching his son and later his grandsons play baseball.
He is survived by his wife, Mabel: sons Dr. Robert L. (Kathy) Ward, Joseph (Becky) Ward, and Michael Burton ; Daughter Mae (Eddie) Roberts; Brothers, Eugene Burton and Edwin Burton ; sister, Louise Danford; and grandchildren, Jeff(Gina) Roberts, Stephen Ward, Brian Burton , Natalie Ward, Joey Ward and Christine Ward. Ben was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Warfield and Mason Burton: and two sons Benny Burton and Tom Ward.
Funeral services will be 3p.m., Friday April 8, 2005 at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield with Dr. Keith Gebhardt officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
