Bess-Arlene Camacho

Bess-Arlene Camacho passed away on Saturday October 1, 2022, at the age of 81 at her home in Fairfield, Ohio. She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Osvaldo Camacho. Bess-Arlene was born in Hamilton, Ohio on July 25, 1941. She graduated from Hamilton High School where she received a full music scholarship to Miami University where she earned her Bachelor of Music Degree in 1963. Upon graduation, she went to New York City and performed in musicals, plays, and television. She has performed on the international opera and concert scene, having sung leading soprano opera roles in ten countries. She has made solo concert appearances with the Philharmonic Orchestra at Carnegie Hall in New York City, as well as the Musikverein in Vienna, Austria. Bess-Arlene received her master’s degree from the Bavarian State Conservatory in Munich, Germany in 1975. After a career that had taken her to 11 countries around the world, including South Africa where she met her husband, she returned to United States in 1988. Following her return to the States, Bess-Arlene spent several years as a radio personality with WMOH in Hamilton, Ohio. Later she taught Music History and Theory as a Professor of Music at Miami University in Hamilton and gave private voice lessons to hundreds voice students for over 20 years. She used her talents to glorify God in all her musical endeavors, whether on professional stage or through the church choirs she led and participated in. Bess-Arlene is survived by her loving husband, Osvaldo Camacho; daughter Elizabeth Daniels and husband Troy, grandsons Ethan and Lincoln Daniels; daughter Louisa Meece and husband Chris, granddaughter Valerie Meece-Hartman and husband Milam; and son Paul Camacho and wife Jackie, granddaughter Maya and grandson Colin Camacho. The funeral was a private ceremony on October 6, 2022 at the Crown Hill Memorial Park & Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Bess-Arlene’s church community at the Laurel Avenue Church of Christ, 1049 Laurel Avenue, Hamilton, Ohio, 45015.
