Betty Eicher
Longtime Fairfield resident, Betty Eicher passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, August 18, 2014. She was 90. She was born on December 12, 1923 in Cincinnati to George and Rosalind Schotte; in 1942 she graduated from Ross High School as the class valedictorian. Betty and her high school sweetheart Robert Eicher were married on August 31, 1943 at Cape May, NJ, where Bob who was serving in the Navy, was stationed prior to shipping out to the Pacific Theater during WW II. Their first daughter, Linda, was born in June 1944. After the war, Betty and Bob settled in Hamilton where a second daughter, Nancy was born in 1949. Once her children were grown, Betty worked in the Fairfield City School District as a secretary in the superintendent’s office, from which she retired in 1986. After retiring, Betty and Bob traveled extensively. Memorable trips included Mexico, the Caribbean, Alaska, Hawaii, Tahiti, Paris, Ireland, Scotland, England, and Wales; often with their children and grandchildren. Betty was an active member of First Baptist Church of Hamilton. She is survived by her husband of 70 years Robert Eicher; daughter, Nancy (Luke) Hibbard; grandchildren, Nicole (Chris Wolski) Dunn, Erica (Phil Harris) Dunn, Jonathan LeRoy, Christy LeRoy; and great grandchildren, Anthony Evans and Joseph Brown. Betty is preceded in death by her parents; daughter Linda; and a sister, Lynn Gentry. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions, in her name, may be given to First Baptist Church of Hamilton or a favorite charity. Visitation will be Friday, August 22, 2014 from 12-1:30 p.m. at the Avance Funeral Home and Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield, OH 45014. Funeral service will begin at 1:30 p.m. with Rev.
