Betty Jean Leonard Stover, age 95, of Fairfield passed away on Tuesday December 16,2025. Betty was born on August 31,1930, to Fred DePriest Leonard and Gertrude Faye Leonard. Betty graduated from Otterbein University in 1952. On June 18, 1955, Betty married Max Stover who predeceased her in 2019. Betty taught English for 30+ years, at Urbana and most of those years at Fairfield Senior High School. She loved everything about the high school, the students, the sports and her fellow teachers and stayed connected to many all through her retirement. After retirement she enjoyed winters at Myrtle Beach and fall in Gatlinburg. Betty loved Southern Gospel Music, and she and Max traveled countless miles to see their favorite groups. Betty was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and loved to wave the Terrible Towel. Betty was also the best Mom and Ma one could ask for; we were blessed to be loved by her. Betty is survived by her brother Jim Leonard, children, Michelle Stover Prok and Mark Russell Stover; grandchildren, Corey Ryan Prok, Andrew Craig (Keri) Prok, Matthew Russell (Tonia) Prok, Emily Brennan Stover. And Sidney Leigh Stover; great-grandchildren, Maverick Ash Barfield, Jack Otis Gregg, Winnie Iris Gregg, Oliver Christian Prok, Finn Daniel Prok, Parker Russell Prok, Quinton Robert Prok and Avery Katherine Prok. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Keith Leonard and Gary Leonard. Visitation will be Monday, January 5, 2026, from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 4601 Fairfield Ave., Fairfield, OH 45014. Funeral services will begin at 3:00 p.m. at the church with Rev. Mark Gregory officiating.
