Blanche M. Retherford-McKay, age 83 of Hamilton passed away Friday August 5, 2005 at Mercy Hospital of Fairfield. She was born October 12, 1921 in Hamilton, the daughter of Henry and Martha (Combs) Wachter. In 1940 she married Paul Retherford in Newport, KY. He later preceded her in death March 23, 1981. On March 3, 1984 she married Kenneth McKay in Hamilton. Kenneth also preceded her in death August 25, 1993. Blanche worked for Ohio Casualty, retiring in 1985 after 30 years of service. In her younger years Blanche loved to play cards and socialize with her friends. She was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Hamilton and recently attended First St. John United Church of Christ. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her at the Westover Retirement Community.
Blanche is survived by her mother-in-law, Mabel McKay; step-daughter, Diane Landi; step-sons, Larry (Sharon) McKay and Steven McKay; cousin, Barry (Kathy) Shannon and his sons, Justin and Kelly; 8 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many close friends, especially Marge Rowland and Nancy Parsons. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; aunts; and uncles.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Tuesday August 9, 2005 at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield with Rev. Edwin Beck officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Monday (TODAY) August 8, 2005 at the funeral home.
