Carl Powell Carl Powell age 99, of Fairfield, passed away at Heartland of Woodridge on Friday June 12, 2015. He was born April 3, 1916, the son of Vinson and Bessie (Slaughter) Powell. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Carthage. He was a very talented carpenter and was still working on his crafts at age 99. He had an amazing work ethic and incredible discipline. He would start working on his crafts by 7:00 am and work until 4:00 pm daily until his death. He was an inspiration and entertained his friends with his stories of his life. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. He was survived by his children, Ronald Powell, Helen (Dan) O’Connor, step-son Robert Taylor; grandchildren, Cathleen (David) Conner, Anthony Powell, Dena (Tom) Mapes, Robbie Taylor, Tiffaney Roberson, Heather Lovitt; great-grandchildren Cassidy Weigold, Bailey Conner, Lindsey Mapes, Jacqueline Mapes, Alex Collins, Samantha Schreibeis, Freddy Sissbarro, Kayla and Conner Roberson. His dear friends Pat and Dan Overbey, and life long friend Charles Deborde will also miss him. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, step-daughter Judith Raines and beloved wife Lorene Powell. Funeral Services will be 5pm to 7pm Wednesday June 17, 2015 at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfied. Burial will be in Owenton Ky., Thursday at 11am at burial site.
