Charles Leonard “Bud” Aydlett age 92 passed away peacefully on Saturday January 24, 2026, surrounded by his loving family in Fairfield, Ohio.

Bud was born in Virginia Beach, Virginia to Howard Clinton Aydlett and Elizabeth Andrews Aydlett on January 20, 1934, and raised in Virginia with his brother Howard.

Bud graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering and received his Master’s degree in business administration from Xavier University. He married his beloved wife, Shirley, in 1957, and together they raised four children, Sharon, Chuck, Bob and Tammy. He was in the ROTC in college and when he graduated, he was active in the Army Reserves. He spent his career with General Electric working in aeronautics engineering, television design and manufacturing, business consulting, and international aeronautic technology agreements.

His career took him to many places; he lived in Virginia, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Massachusetts, Ohio, and New York, and traveled throughout the United States, Europe and Asia.

He believed his purpose in life was what he could give back, he was an active member in his congregation at St. Marks Methodist Church, and in the past with the Lions Club, the Masons, and Shriners. Bud made space for connection, he was committed to collective compassion.

Bud was known for his unwavering kindness, his incredible memory, and enjoyment of what life had to offer. He was passionate about his garden (his tomatoes were mastery of nurturing), golfing, boating and fishing, and following the Reds and Bengals. He loved conversation, he didn’t demand attention, his joy, warmth, and willingness to engage people drew people in naturally.

Bud is survived by his wife of 68 years, Shirley; his children, Sharon (Fred), Chuck (Sarah), Bob (Karen) and Tammy (Tom); his grandchildren, Jennifer, Adam, Renee, Jason, Salame, Tesha, Chaz, Megan and Tommy; and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Elizabeth Aydlett and his brother Howard Aydlett Jr.
