Charles E. Glynn

March 1, 1920 — October 27, 2007

Age 87 of Fairfield passed away Saturday, October 27, 2007 at his home. He was born March 1, 1920 in Cincinnati, the son of Philip and Ester (Behymer) Glynn. On January 26, 1946 he married Dorothy Hall also in Cincinnati. He was a graduate of Withrow High School and attended University of Cincinnati School of Engineering. Charlie was a WWII Veteran serving in the Army Air Corps as a Tech Sergeant in the Philipines. He completed his apprenticeship at Cincinnati Milling Machine, where he worked and accepted a position with General Electric in manufacturing programs. He enjoyed his employment at GE for 30 years and retired in 1982. After his retirement, Charlie started his own furniture repair business, The Wood Shop. Mr. Glynn was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Hamilton where he served as a Deacon and Sunday school teacher.

Charlie is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy Glynn; children, Dr. Christopher C. (Susan) Glynn, Ann E. (Jim) Helwig and Jonathan H. (Jenny Williamson) Glynn; grandchildren, Nathanael Glynn, Stephanie Glynn, Kate Gray, Ben Helwig, Josie Haack, Wren Mobley, Sara Glynn, Max Glynn, and Alex Williamson; 11 great-grandchildren; and brother, Philip Glynn, Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant son, John Philip Glynn.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Thursday, November 1, 2007 at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 2, 2007 at the funeral home with Dr. Dennis Metzger and Rev. William C. Brantingham officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park.
