Charles Bruce O'Mera

Age 79, passed away Monday, March 23, 2009. He was born May 11, 1929 the son of Charles Brown and Bertina (Klein) O'Mera in Louisville, KY. Charles was a member of the U.S. Army from 1949 to 1952. He served as a Cincinnati Police Officer from 1957 to 1981. He then went on to work for Cincinnati Financial Corp. as Head of Security from 1981 to 1997, when he became PT security until 2009. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Police, Fraternal Order of Police Retirees, Fairfield Optimist, Moose Lodge, American Legion, and the VFW (Veterans of Foreign War).

Charles is survived by his wife, Erin nee Smith (Ciavarella) O'Mera; children, Debora (Karl) Larson, Lynn (Tom) Rieskamp, Kathy (Rick) Riehle, Teresa (Jim) Hubbard, and Josh O'Mera; step children, Gina (Brian) Bell and Daniel (Jessica) Ciavarella; siblings, Albert "Bud O'Mera and Barbara Glass; mother in law, Dolores Smith; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Stephen, Andrew, Amanda, R.J., Eric, Jacob, Tim, Jamie, Zachary, Rachel, Ashton, Megan, Brandon, Nathan, Rylan, Ansley, and Emmie; great grandchild, DaSean; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marian "Pee Wee" McPhillips; and father in law, Richard W. Smith.

Visitation will be 4-6pm, Friday, March 27, 2009, with Cincinnati Police services starting at 5:45pm, at the Avance Funeral Home in Fairfield. Funeral services will be 10:00am, Saturday, March 28, 2009, also at the funeral home with Father Larry Tharp officiating. The burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park in Hamilton.
