Charles L. Schardine

SCHARDINE
Charles L. Age 82, of Fairfield, passed away on November 4, 2011 at Mercy Hospital Fairfield. He was born April 30, 1929 to Chris and Bertha (Lee) Schardine. Mr. Schardine served his country in the U.S. Army during 1951-1953. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church. After four years as a bank examiner, in 1960 Charles started a long career with Dollar Federal Savings Bank in which he was V.P. and then named President and Chief Executive Officer in 1965. He also took on the additional title of Chairman in 1987. He stayed with Dollar Federal until 1991 when they were purchased by an out of state bank. Charles was very active and involved in the community and served as past President of Hamilton Rotary Club. He sponsored the Fairfield Rotary Club in 1972; Charles was past President and Director of the Hamilton City Club, Director/Treasurer of Hamilton Boys Club and on the Board of Junior Achievement. He served as Board member of the Greater Hamilton Chamber of Commerce, Board of Cancer Society as well as the Board of Fairfield Swim Club.
On October 15, 1955 Charles was united in marriage to Jeanne (Lange). To this union five children were born: Chris Reynolds, Nancy Schardine, Mary (Steve) Doerger, James (Nancy) Schardine, and Mark (Ariane) Schardine. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at The Avance Funeral Home and Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd. Fairfield OH, 45014 from 5-7 p.m. on Monday November 7, 2011.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday November 8, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 400 Nilles Rd., Fairfield, OH 45014. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the Fairfield Community Foundation, 5350 Pleasant Ave., Fairfield, OH 45014. Condolences may be given at www.avancefuneralhome.com
