Christel Elisabeth (Teitz) Gresser

GRESSER

Christel Elizabeth – age 90 of Cincinnati, OH passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2017. She was born on September 7, 1926 in Sondershausen, Germany to the late Karl and Elisa Tietz (nee Kunze).

On August 21, 1948, in Bremen, Germany she married her husband Rudolf Gresser. They immigrated to the United States in June of 1951, became citizens and have lived in the Cincinnati area since coming to America.

Christel loved cooking, baking, gardening and cross-stitching quilts. In 1966 she began working Saturdays on Findlay Market in downtown Cincinnati, where she was paid a few dollars for the 12-hour day, plus all the produce she wanted to take home to help feed her family of seven. She continued working there for over fifteen years. She was a member of Dayspring Church of God.

She is survived by her children York (Kathy) Gresser of FL, Monica (Robert) Voss of MD, Carmen Gunn of CO, Iris (Dennis) Rasp of OH and Scott (Marlene) Gresser of CO, 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, her brothers Volkmar Tietz and Karl (Karin) Tietz, all in Germany her sister Irmgard (Simon John) Hoffman of OH and numerous friends.

She is predeceased by her husband, Rudolf, and her infant brother, Christopher Tietz. A memorial service will be held at the Dayspring Church of God, 1060 Smiley Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 12:30 pm with visitation from 11:00 am until the time of service. Pastor Ron Mitchell will be officiating.

There will be a repast meal afterwards for family, friends and neighbors.
