Clara L. Payne

Age 74, of Hamilton, OH, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Wednesday, February 2, 2011. She was born June 9, 1936 in Livingston, KY,

the daughter of Arch and Edith (Wyan) Mullins. She graduated from Hazel Green

High School in London, KY. On June 7, 1954 she married Clyde H. 'Junior' Payne, in Jellico, TN. She worked for Hamilton City Schools until she and Clyde moved to Tampa, FL at which time she worked for Leto High School as an Assistant Librarian until her retirement in 1999. She loved antiques, decorating cakes, playing scrabble, but more than anything, she loved her cats Buck and Cheeky. She was a member of Fairfield Church of Christ. In addition to her husband of 56 years, she is survived by daughters Lee (Darrell) Rose, Linda (Lionel) Mott, sons Rob (Kathi) Payne, Randall (Beth) Payne, step-daughter Beverly (Jon) Vanderpool; grandchildren, Erica, Elizabeth and Alex Rose, Ryan Wilson and Robbi Mott, Caleb and Chloe Payne, Allyson Payne, Wendy Holsman, Angie and Nathan Vanderpool; 5 great-grandchildren; sister Wanda (Elbert) Rush and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Oscar, Tom, Hazel, Hubert, Harold, Allene, Bill, Fern and Forest. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Avance Funeral Home, 4976 Winton Road, Fairfield, OH with Dave Hargrave officiating. Visitation will be Friday (today), February 4, 2011 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. Burial with be at Rose-Hill Burial Park in Hamilton, OH.
