Age 87, of Hamilton, died Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at Westover Retirement Community. She was born September 22, 1919 in Jackson, MS, the daughter of A.T. and Ola (Firth) Hillock. On March 9, 1940 she married John L. Wallace in Covington, KY and to this union was born one daughter, Johnita. Cynthia attended Fairfield Schools and was employed by both Wilmer's Department Store and Ohio Casualty while she lived in Hamilton. She and John spent 22 years in Florida before returning to Hamilton in 1984 to retire near their family. She became "Grannie" to 3 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, and even though her mind was gripped by Alzheimer's, she never forgot her daughter nor ever forgot to ask on a daily basis, "How are the kids?". She was "Cookie" to her many close friends at Fairfield McDonalds, and attended the First Baptist Church of Hamilton and was involved in the "Keenager's" as long as her health allowed.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her husband, John L. in 1985; her parents, Aris and Ola; 2 sisters, Emily Mitchell and Anna Smith, all of Lexington, KY; and 1 brother, Frank Hillock of Arizona.
Cynthia is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Jerry Wallace (Johnita),; 2 grandsons, Douglas and Judy (nee Fowler) Wallace and their 3 children: Amy, Alex and Anna; John and Ruth (nee Meade) Wallace and their 6 children: Samuel, Audrey, Isabella, Lillian, Sophie and John Joseph; and 1 granddaughter, Kim and her husband Mike Siman, and their 3 children: Will, Michael, and David.
Words cannot express how grateful the family is for the loving care shown to Cynthia by the staff of the Fitton Wing of Westover, and by Hospice, who assisted in her declining months and days. It had become her home and she trusted and loved all of you.
