CARR, Rev. David E. Carr

April 25th, 1941 - January 14th, 2025

Rev. David E. Carr passed away at the age of 83 in Middletown, Ohio, surrounded by his loving family. David was born in 1941 to Rev. John and Marie Carr in Athens, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Marie, brothers John, Larry, Alva, Don, and sisters Edith Nye, Lucille Dixon, D. “Jodie” Bartlett, Betty Whicker, and Ruth MacDermott.

Inspired by his father, whom he revered, David pursued ministry to further the kingdom of God and according to his grandchildren, “could preach like no others.” He called many places home; California, Colorado, and Ohio, but really home was wherever his family, and the outdoors were. An avid hunter and outdoorsman, David was filled with a love for the mountains of Colorado and the grandeurs of the American west. Influenced by trips he took as a boy; he would take his children on various trips and instill in them a love for nature. In 2005, David suffered a stroke that took away his ability to walk. Despite that, he never balked in his faith. When he became confined to a bed, he would have nurses and other visitors tend to him. Those willing to listen became his congregation and right there in his bed was the continued ministry of David Carr. He was kept energized by an undying love for Christ that he would pass to his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Donna, his four children, Nathan, Elizabeth, Chad, and Heather, his grandchildren Taylor, Tyler, Taryn, Lauren, Jonathan, Emily, Conner, Benjamin, Zachary, Aiden, Hope, and Priscilla.
