David Andre Kuhn, age 67, of Fairfield, Ohio passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Friday August 27, 2004 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Cincinnati on June 11, 1937, the son of the late Karl Earl Virn and Margaret Lavada (Andre) Kuhn, he grew up in Columbus, Ohio. A four-year veteran of the U.S. Army, David graduated from The Ohio State University and Pacific Western University. He married Karen (Hardwick) on June 30, 1984 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Fairfield. He was a member of Augsburg Lutheran Church, Cincinnati.
A Certified Sales Executive and marketing professional for 31 years, David specialized in medical equipment for healthcare. He founded AccessAbility Communications Systems that provided equipment and services for multihandicapped individuals in the tristate for 10 years. After retiring in 1995, he became an NRA certified firearms instructor in pistol and personal protection. He was a graduate of both the Fairfield Citizens Police Academy and Fire Academy. Active in historical re-enactment with the 78th Highlanders, Indianapolis, he participated in events depicting the French and Indian War era. Until overtaken by illness, Dave was a volunteer for the Fairfield Municipal Court and a committee member for the Tri-County Friends of the NRA for the annual banquet fundraiser for scholarships through the NRA Foundation. He was a member of Lodge 76 Fraternal Order of Police Associates, Butler County Sportsmen Club, National Rifle Association, and National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association.
David is survived by his wife, Karen of Fairfield; four children: David Davison and his wife Lily of Kansas City, Mo.; Diane Brobeck of Lancaster, Oh.; Deborah Hiles and her husband Dana of Lancaster, Oh.; and Daryl Davison and his wife Dawn of Danville, Oh., 11 grandchildren; brother Alan and his wife Kathy of Albuquerque, NM.; brother-in-law Randy and sister-in-law Rita Hunt of Malta, Oh.; nephews Keith Kuhn of Phoenix, Az., Andrew Kuhn of Denver, Co. and Ryan Hunt of Malta, Oh.; and mother-in-law Mary Hunt of Lancaster. Oh.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Monday August 30, 2004 at Augsburg Lutheran Church, 11676 Hamilton Ave., Cincinnati, Oh 45231 with Pastor Deborah Fergus officiating. Cremation will follow with distribution of cremains at the convenience of the family. Visitation will be 2-5 p.m., Sunday at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Road, Fairfield, Oh. 45014.
