David Reese Lofland, Sr., 67, of Hamilton, OH, passed away just before midnight Saturday June 5, 2010. He was born May 30, 1943, in Columbus, OH, to parents William "Red" & Ruth (Fassig) Lofland. On June 6, 1964, he married Norma Loretta Compton. He served in the U.S. Army for six years, with active duty in Germany. In 1998, he retired from the Kroger Company as a truck driver with 30 years of service. He was a member of the VFW, Fraternal Order of Eagles, American Legion, and AMVETS. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating, and was also a master at telling jokes. He is survived by Norma, his wife and partner of 46 years; son, David Lofland, Jr.; daughter and son-in-law, Sherri and David Scott; grandsons, Reese and Drew Lofland; and brother, Fred Lofland. A celebration of Dave's life with a gathering of friends & family, as he would have wanted, will take place between 4-7 p.m. the afternoon of Saturday, July 10, 2010.
