David R. "Buck" Spears

David R. "Buck" Spears, age 79, of Weeki Wachee, Florida, beloved life partner, father and grandfather, passed away on June 8, 2025 after a courageous battle against cancer.

Mr. Spears was born in Pikeville, KY on October 12, 1945, to the late

Broadus and Earlene Spears. He is survived by his life partner, Kathy Senn, his son, David Patrick Spears, his grandson, Ricky Hucker, his special cousins, Sheila (Jerry) Bliffen and Susan Underwood, his former sisters in law, "Pokey" (Mark) Wineberg, and Jacke Stempfley, his special nephew Cody Spears, and many other cousins, nieces, nephews. Preceding him in death, was his wife of 44 years, Patricia D. Spears, and his brother, Benny Jerome Spears. Buck was a biology teacher in Ohio at Fairfield Middle School for 15 years and later was one of the Fairfield High School principals for 15 years until his retirement in 1999. After retiring he taught driver's education in Fairfield and worked at the Fairfield golf course.

He wished to be remembered as a caring and fair instructor and administrator, as well as a trusted and loyal friend. He was an avid fisherman, excellent golfer, and a lover of horse racing. Buck will also be remembered for his love of music. He knew the lyrics to every song from the sixties and seventies. Buck loved to travel and in his final years, he and Kathy traveled to many far-off countries fulfilling his "bucket list' destinations of Alaska, the Panama Canal, and the Mediterranean.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, Fairfield, OH is serving the family.
