HACKER
Dewey, age 89 of Fairfield passed away on April 14, 2013 at home. He was born in Manchester, KY on January 20, 1924 the son of Dewey and Molly (nee Hensley) Hacker; on March 20, 1945 in Vallejo, CA he married Frances Pauline Blanton. As a young man Dewey attended vocational school to become a machinist; he went to Bridgeport, CT and was employed by Remington Arms. He served in the Navy as a Boatswains Mate on the USS Wharton 1941-45. Dewey returned to his home state and worked for the Blue Diamond Coal Co. for 6 years; in 1951 they moved to Fairfield where he worked for 33 years for Fisher Body. In 1977 he was selected by General Motors to be honored as GM Man of the Year, recognizing him for his community service. Dewey was a charter member of Rolling Hills Baptist Church in Fairfield; served 3 terms on the board for Fairfield City Schools; and active in the Republican Party. In 2004 he was named O'Tuck of the year; he was successful in real estate and other endeavors. Dewey is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Pauline Hacker; son, Larry ( Sue) Hacker; daughter in law, Deborah Hacker; grandson, Chris (Amie) Hacker; granddaughter Paulie (Will) Gardner; great grandchildren, Ian, Aidan, Alex, and Katie. Dewey was preceded in death by his parents; his son Gary Wayne Hacker; 5 siblings, Ford Hacker, Marie Hacker, Hayes Hacker, Cecil Hacker, and Earl Hacker.
Visitation will be Thursday April 18, 2013 from 5-7 p.m. at Rolling Hills Baptist Church, 5742 Pleasant Ave., Fairfield, OH 45014. Funeral services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests making memorial contributions to O'Tucks Scholarship Fund, care of Joyce Thall, 1740 Cleveland Ave., Hamilton, OH 45014 or Hospice of Cincinnati, 4310 Cooper Rd., 45242. Condolences may be given at www.avancefuneralhome.com
