Age 77 of Hamilton passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at Cincinnati Veteran's Hospital. He was born August 21, 1932 in Cleveland, TN, the son of Omer W. and Cubie Lee (Gibson) Johnson. Don was a Veteran of the US Navy and a member of the First Baptist Church of Hamilton.
Don successfully operated his own thriving business, first in California and later in Las Vegas. Throughout his life, Don was not content with the prosaic. He once challenged himself to motorcycling across the entire United States. Jubilantly, he completed the trip. Don was the quintessential man's man in that he enjoyed adventurous activities. In later years, he and several friends met faithfully each morning to discuss, over coffee, sports and politics.
He returned from the West to care for his aging mother to whom he was devoted. Those who knew Don will doubtless remember him best for his keen intelligence and sparkling wit. Laughter and gentle humor were his gifts to others.
He leaves behind his children, Kurt Johnson and Nancy (Jim) Fees; grandson, Matthew Olson; dear friend, Betty Terry; niece, Pam (Steve) Grieger; nephews, Chris (Christy) Johnson and Craig Johnson; and loving great nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Don was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Allen Johnson.
