Donald Paul Moore

Donald Paul Moore – age 87 of Fairfield Township, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2023.  He was born May 17, 1936 in Camden, New Jersey, the son of the late Norman G. Moore and Emma Mertz Moore.  Donald graduated from Amherst High School in 1954 where he participated in track as a local and state sprinter in the 100, 220 and 440, holding Amherst track records for many years.  Following high school, Donald served in the United State Marine Corps from 1954-57 attaining the rank of Sergeant.  On July 3, 1955 he married Gaynell Street.  Donald worked as an ironworker, quality control manager, and managed several restaurants.  Following retirement, he worked in the property room with Fairfield City Police Department and served in the Fairfield Municipal Court.  He was a member of F.O.P.A. and served with the Red Cross during Hurricane Katrina.  He was a member of Fairfield Church of Christ for 34 years serving as a church elder, leader of the Seniors Group, and participating in two mission trips.  Donald is survived by his wife Gaynell; children Brian Moore, Diana Shriver and Cathleen Cox; grandchildren James (Amanda) Moore, Hannah Moore, Lydia Moore, Naomi Moore, Susanna Moore, Michelle (Brian) Willet, Lindsay Kazi and 3 great-grandchildren.  Visitation will be held Thursday, December 14 from 10AM until time of service (12 Noon) at Fairfield Church of Christ, 745 Symmes Rd., Fairfield, OH, 45014.  Pastors Brian Schreiber and Dave Hargrave officiating.  Online condolences may be left for the family by visiting www.avancefuneralhome.com
