BRIGGS Donnie – age 92, passed on Monday, April 12, 2021 at his home in Hamilton.  He was born on September 9, 1928 to Charles B. Briggs and Ada (Robertson) Briggs in Hamilton, Ohio.  Don met the love of his life, Teresa Margaret Mary McCarthy of Brookline, Massachusetts, while serving in the United States Coast Guard.  They were married on June 15, 1947 in Brookline, Massachusetts.  To their union, 5 children were born:  Joe, deceased; Charles “Chick”, deceased along with his wife Judy, deceased;  Dennis (Lynne); Don (Mary Jo); Kathy Metcalf (Gary, deceased).  Don had 8 grandchildren.  Katie Selby-Hamrick (Peter), Don Briggs, April Briggs-Johnson (Rusty), Lori Briggs-Schisler (Ryan), Angie Briggs-Bucheit (Craig), Jamie Metcalf, Amy Metcalf-Taylor (Travis).  Don was preceded in death by his parents, wife Teresa, sister Margie Winkler (Vories), grandson Mark-Paul Selby, great-granddaughter Catherine Lynne Johnson and his faithful dog Benji.  Surviving are 15 great-grandchildren.  Don retired from Champion Paper Company after 44 years of service.  After retiring, he enjoyed working at this daughter and son-in-law’s gun shop, Gary’s Guns.  He enjoyed having a good time, woodworking, painting, fishing, garage sales and thrift stores.  Don was working on his final painting the day before he was admitted into the hospital in the wee hours of the morning Easter Sunday.  He wanted nothing better than to go home and sit in his chair.  Kathy had promised that she would get him home.  He came home Tuesday night with the help of Hospice.  Don was a GREAT son, brother, husband, grandpa “Poppy”, great grandpa and friend to many.  On December 26, 2016, Don was a “Viral” YouTube sensation on “Poppy Speaks Out!!”.  He was 88 years old and playing the game “Speak Out” for the first time.  Watch him – you won’t be disappointed!  Missing him is an understatement.  … And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.  There will be no visitation or services per Don’s request.  Memorial gifts may be directed to Hospice of Cincinnati, P.O.
