CIESLAK, DOROTHY

Dorothy Cieslak, 77, passed away at the Fort Hamilton Hospital on July 6, 2016. She was born May 21, 1939, to Stanley and Irene (Lozowski) Marchewka in Buffalo, NY.  Sister of Richard Marchewka and Dan (Diane) Marchewka.  Preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law Clara Marchewka.

Dorothy attended nursing school at Deaconess Hospital in Buffalo, NY and later went into accounting to help her husband with his practice.  Dorothy married the love of her life, Dr. Frederick S. Cieslak, on December 26, 1960.  For over 55 years they were a caring, devoted and loving couple.

Her life revolved around their family which includes four sons: Michael and Carmelle (Bisdorf) of Liberty Township; Mitchell and Susan (Ballard) of Hamilton; Marty and Pat (Fowler) of Lebanon; Matt and Bernadette (Robison) of Hamilton. She had ten grandchildren:  Erica and Zachary; Chris married to Julia (Hedgebeth) and Jenna married to Aaron Womacks; Stacy, Stephanie, Abby and Dennis; and Alex and Lily. She was great grandmother to four: Aiden, Ashden and Alden Womacks; and Heidi Cieslak.  Dorothy will also miss her numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Dorothy was a devout Queen of Peace parishioner.  She was a regular and active member of the Prayer Hotline.  She also belonged to the Notre Dame Tabernacle Society of Hamilton where she and a team of seamstresses created Priest vestments for poor and needy parishes around the world including India, Africa and South America. Dorothy was a dedicated volunteer and seemed happiest when surrounded by people or working on her sewing projects.

She enjoyed camping and boating with her friends and their families for over 30 years.  She also enjoyed bowling and traveling on bowling trips with the Knights of Columbus Couples' group.  For 23 years, she was a member of the St. Peter's Pitch and Pinochle Couples' Card Clubs and several bridge clubs. Dorothy loved being at Kings Island especially riding her favorite roller coaster, The Beast as well as cooking her favorite Polish recipes for her family and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 11am at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Millville, OH 45013. The family will receive friends at the Avance Funeral Home, 4976 Winton Rd, Fairfield, OH 45014 on Tuesday,  July 12, 2016 from 5pm to 8pm.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Notre Dame Tabernacle Society of Hamilton, 390 Sir Edward Dr, Hamilton, OH 45013 or Queen of Peace Church, 2550 Millville Ave, Hamilton, OH 45013.  Condolences may be offered at www.avancefuneralhome.com
