departed this earth January 8, 2011 and is now with her Savior. Born April 1st, 1922 to John Thomas and Barbara (Cole) Hall in Dayton, Ohio, Dorothy was raised in Madisonville, and attended Withrow H.S.in Cincinnati, OH. She attended Miami University, majoring in English. During WWII, Dorothy served as an executive secretary in the office of the Air Inspector and volunteered at the USO. Upon his return from the war, Charles E. Glynn and Dorothy E. Hall were wedded. During their 60 year marriage they were blessed with 3 children: Christopher C. Glynn (Susan), Ann G. Helwig (James), and Jonathan H. Glynn (Jenny Williamson); 9 grandchildren: Wren Williamson Mosley, Kate Helwig Gray (Dave), Ben J. Helwig (Rachel), Sara R. Glynn (Jaime Doll), Max Glynn (Amanda), Alexander J. Williamson (Rebecca Schermerhorn), Johanna Helwig Haack (Joe), Nathanael C. Glynn (Stephanie) and Stephanie A. Glynn; and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Charles E. Glynn, husband; John Philip Glynn, infant son; her parents; and Jack Hall, brother.
Devoted to helping others, Dorothy was employed as a librarian at Hayes Elem. School then as a social worker for the Butler Co. Human Services Dept. Upon retiring in 1991, she volunteered at Fort Hamilton Hospital in the surgical unit.
Dorothy became a devout Christian while attending the Presbyterian Church in Pittsburg, PA and maintained her devotion as a "gifted" Sunday School teacher, choir member, deaconess, and through various missionary circles as a member of Lindenwald Baptist, St. Clair Avenue Baptist, and 1st Baptist Churches in Hamilton, OH. She enjoyed actively participating in politics, traveling extensively, and reading novels and newspapers. She will best be remembered for her marvelous sense of humor, her humility, and her generous acts of kindness often extended through written notes of encouragement and appreciation. She loved deeply, and those who have experienced her love will miss her greatly.
Dorothy's family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of the Special Care Unit of Berkley Square (Hamilton, OH) for their loving care of Dorothy during her later years. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be sent to the One Way Farm, 6131 River Rd., Fairfield, OH 45014.
Visitation will be 10:30 a.m. - until time of service (11:30 a.m.), Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield, OH 45014 with Rev.
