Dorothy Morris

Dorothy Cole Morris, age 90 of Fairfield, passed away at the Meadows Healthcare Center in Forest Park, February 5, 2009. She was born in Hamilton on May 5, 1918, the daughter of Ewell and Nora Cole. On May 6, 1938 she married Edward Morris and they celebrated fifty-six plus years together until his death in 1995. Dorothy was a graduate of Hamilton High School with special honors in Spanish. She worked along side her husband and was the office manager for their business of Morris Insurance Agency for thirty-three years until her retirement in 1978. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene and assisted in the Sunday School office for many years. She served as the first President of the Fairfield Kiwanis Auxiliary Club. She took special pride in caring for her family and home while sharing her joy of reading, gardening and love of animals. She lived out her Christian values until the very end leaving a loving legacy to many.

She is survived by only daughter, Judith Morris Dirksen (Howard) of Fairfield, grandson, Alex Edward Dirksen (Reagen) of Cincinnati, granddaughter Ann Dirksen Parsell (Joshua) of Fairfield, four great grandchildren, Madox and Mignon Dirksen and Elijah and Piper Parsell. She also leaves nieces, Glenda Jackson, Dottie Becraft (Chuck), Dorothy Herrlein and nephews D. Michael Laney and Michael Corless along with many dear family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, G. Merle Cole, sisters, Marie Corless and Verna Wilson and niece Janet Corless Smith. Special thanks go to the staff, nurses and aides at the Meadows for their love and devoted care of Dorothy.

Visitation will be 2 p.m. - until the time of service (4 p.m.) Sunday, February 8 at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Road, Fairfield. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
