Edna L. Briggs

Edna Louise Briggs, age 89, of Hamilton, passed away Sunday, June 6, 2004, at Hospice of Hamilton. She was born in Rochester, New Hampshire on May 11, 1915. Mrs. Briggs graduated from nursing school on June 17, 1938 and was a nurse for the Hamilton City School System for 21 years. Edna was a dedicated member of Faith United Church of Christ. An avid Reds fan, in later years she also enjoyed bingo and karaoke. Mrs. Briggs was an award-winning pie maker and a great lover of animals. She will forever be remembered as "such a lady."

Edna is survived by two sons, Wayne (Mary Ann) Briggs of Fairfield and Lloyd (Edna) Briggs of Hamilton; two daughters, Judy Athey of Fairfield and Marty (Michael) Combs of Hamilton; one sister, Gladys (Bill) Binder of Southboro, Massachusetts; one cousin, Helen Abbott of Union, New Hampshire; seven grandchildren, Ellen Bryant (Athey), Tracy Pipher (Briggs), Julie Weigel (Briggs), Jason Briggs, Megan Garbe (Combs), Katie Briggs, and Molly Combs; six great-grandchildren and her special angel, Rascal.

A memorial service will be held at Sunrise of Hamilton, 896 NW Washington Blvd., Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Al Minor of Faith United Church of Christ officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Faith United Church of Christ or to Hospice of Hamilton, and wishes to extend thanks to both organizations for easing the pain of her loss. A special thank you goes to the care-team at Sunrise of Hamilton for their love and devotion to "Miss Edna."
