Edna Pendergrass
January 2, 1919 — January 25, 2009
Age 90, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother died January 25, 2009.
She was born on January 2, 1919 to GB and Millie Mosley of Major, Kentucky. She married Homer Pendergrass on April 9, 1936. They were married close to 73 years which could be considered a rarity nowadays. Edna and Homer raised their family in Fairfield, Ohio during which she worked in the drapery department at Sears of Hamilton, Ohio for 33 years before retiring at age 65. She is survived by her husband Homer 94 and two sons, Ferris and wife Wilma, and Bob and wife Pat all of Fairfield. Her surviving grandchildren include Sandra (Mike) Collins, Keith (Teresa) Pendergrass, Tammy (Kevin) O'Leary, and Chad (Natalie) Pendergrass. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Aimee (Brian) Everett, Chris Collins, Stefan Pendergrass, Logan Pendergrass, Allison O'Leary, Ryan O'Leary, Carter Pendergrass, and Grace Pendergrass; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her close friends and neighbors of 25 years Joe and Fran Kelly.
She was preceded in death by her parents GB and Millie Mosley, and her brothers Letch Mosley, Harlan Mosley, Melvin Mosley, and Grant Mosley. Her sisters who also preceded her were Martha Smith, Mary Miller, and Grace Nash along with many nephews and nieces. She was also preceded in death by her best friend and co-worker Irene Chasteen .
Edna was a faithful member of the Laurel Avenue Church of Christ for many years. She spent her years doing for her family and others, thinking of others first and putting herself last. She will be sorely missed by many dear friends as well as her many family members that she was such a central part of. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the many caregivers who took special care of Edna.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. - until time of service (12 Noon), Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield with Charles Anderson officiating. Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Association.
