Age 74 of Fairfield unexpectedly passed away Sunday, April 22, 2007 at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. He was born September 3rd, 1932 in Hamilton, OH, the son of Michael and Rose Mary (Vogt) Riegert. On August 20, 1965 Ned married Diane (De) Kross in Las Vegas Nevada. He was staple of fun and laughter in the Hamilton-Fairfield community.
Ned chose to be a member of Uncle Sam's Misguided Children (USMC) during the Korean War and wore this honor proudly for all of his days. He also chose to be an organ and tissue donor so that he may help ill and injured people. He was and always will be an influential member of several organizations including: the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1069 where he served as a Post Commander and in the military order of the Cooties as the Seam Squirrel and the Adjutant. He also spent much of his time volunteering with the Fairfield Optimist Club "Friends of Youth" where he served as Club Secretary and Concessions Manager for many years. He enjoyed spending his weekends selling pop and candy at the soccer fields where he worked all day during Saturday's MASC tournament games. Other organizations Ned enjoyed being involved with include the Fairfield AmVets, Hamilton American Legion, Hamilton Mutual Monkey Aid Society, Fairfield Eagles and the Hamilton Moose club. Ned also served as the current President of Hamilton-Fairfield's Liars club, Joke of the day club and Beer-Thirty club.
Ned is survived by wife, De (Kross); daughters Linda (Moore), Jeannie (Williamson), sons Doug and Scott; grandchildren Lisa, Melody, Megan, Jeremy, Josh, Ryan, Kayla, Zachary, Jillian, Matthew and Olivia; great-grandchildren Kevin and Justin; brothers Mike (Lori) and Bill (Grace); sisters Helen Beer (Gene), Rosie Schindler (Jim), Betty Kunzler (Lew) and Joan Leugers; brother-in-law Chuck Mignery; sisters-in-law Barb and Maggie and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Michael and Rose Mary (Vogt); brothers, Dick and Dave; and sister Ruth (Mignery); brothers-in-law Dick Wolf, Dan Brosius and Ron Leugers. Ned befriended many and is survived by and has been preceded in death by thousands of friends.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. - until time of services (7 p.m.), Thursday, April 26, 2007 at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield.
