WERNERY, Elizabeth “Libby” (nee Hatfield)

Elizabeth (Libby) Wernery née Hatfield, 99 1/2, beloved of family and friends, slipped into glory Tuesday, February 8, 2022. Libby was born August 5, 1922 to Clarice and Edgar Hatfield in Akron, Ohio. Preceded in death by husband Bob Wernery, identical twin Evelyn (Oppy) Spettel, and brothers Robert, William, Wayne and Donald. On July 22, 1946, she married Bob, the love of her life.

She is survived by her sons Dan (Sharon), Dave (Tina), grandsons David (Randallynn), Andrew, five great-granddaughters, nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends. She was like a mother to Oppy’s daughter, Susan (Jerry) Baird.

Libby loved and lived life to the fullest. She had many interests and belonged to several clubs: Mother Singers, Red Hat Ladies, ladies golf league, Dunham Choraliers and member of Rolling Hills Baptist Church. In her teens, she was a schoolteacher in a one-room schoolhouse. Also, a Cub Scout Den Mother and volunteer at Providence Hospital. Hobbies included crocheting, singing, playing the organ. She was a friend to everyone she met. Libby always had a smile, kind word and positive attitude with a sweet, witty sense of humor.

Celebration of Life will be Thursday, February 17th, with Visitation 10a.m. – until time of Funeral Service (12 Noon), at Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield OH 45014 with Pastor Danny Rollins officiating.  Burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Montgomery, OH. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Cincinnati.
