Elva Lee (Smith) Stewart

Age 85, of Hamilton, passed away October 11, 2014 at Hospice of Hamilton. She was born December 18, 1928 in Leatherwood, KY. She was the daughter of Lemuel "LP" and Laura (Miniard) Smith. Elva Lee graduated from the Stuart Robinson High School in Whitesburg, KY. Elva Lee proudly retired as a cook from General Electric.

On May 21, 1949, she married Johnce J. Stewart and together they had three children, James Callahan, Johnce W. Stewart, and Elizabeth "Libbie" Salee. Johnce and Elva Lee lived most of their lives in Mt. Healthy until 2000, then moved to Sharps Chapel, TN. to live on Norris Lake. They returned home to OH in 2004 to spend time with family and friends on their 10.27 acre farm. Elva Lee was an avid outdoors woman. She loved to garden and surrounded herself with flowers and plants of any and all kinds. She loved to cook massive dinners for her family and friends for any occasion. She loved to play all card games. She loved to fish, especially in Canada and Michigan. Elva Lee was a very wise, strong, and resourceful women. If she needed something and didn't have it, she would make it. She would go through her things, divise her plan from what she had on hand, work until she got it right and then put her many inventions to good use.

Elva Lee was preceeded in death by her devoted husband, Johnce J. Stewart, after nearly 55 loving years of marriage. She was also preceeded in death by her parents, and brothers, Malcom, Talton and Milton, and her sisters, Gola, Marie and Chloe.

Elva Lee lovingly leaves behind her 3 children, 7 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren who will miss her dearly everyday. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren are very grateful for everything that she taught them throughout their lives. All of her valuable lessons will be passed on for many more generations to come.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. - 8p.m., Thursday, October 16 at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield. Funeral service will be Friday, October 17 at 11 a.m., at the funeral home with David Hargrave officiating.
