Emerson "Mac" F. McCormick

Emerson "Mac" F. McCormick, age 83, of Fairfield, passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2004 at Hospice of Hamilton. He was born May 12, 1920 in Hamilton, the son of Edwin and Pauline (Field) McCormick. On June 30, 1941 he married Alberta Hileman in Rosmoyne, OH. Mac graduated from Fairfield High School in 1940. He was a Veteran of WWII, serving in the US Navy and then worked as a Millwright at Champion Papers retiring after 40 years of service. Emerson also served the City of Fairfield as a Volunteer Firefighter. Mac was a member of the St. Clair Avenue Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School, and then later transferred his membership to First Baptist Church of Hamilton. Emerson enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his grandkids and watching sports, and especially loved bowling with all his dear friends.

He is survived by his son, Douglas (Susan) McCormick of Clarksville, TN; daughter, Karen (Al) Schumm of Hamilton; grandsons, Matthew Schumm, Mark (Shannon) Schumm, Jeffrey McCormick, and Sean (Yvonne) McCormick; and one soon to be expected great-grandchild. Mac was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alberta on September 9, 2002; brother, Jim McCormick; and sister Virginia Whitney.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Fairfield Pavilion, Hospice of Cincinnati, and Hospice of Hamilton.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, January 24, 2004 at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield with Dr. Dennis Metzger and Rev. Bill Brantingham officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
