Emma Leroy

LeROY, Emma Janette, age 84 of Hamilton passed away Monday April 17, 2006 at Mercy Hospital of Fairfield. She was born March 22, 1922 in Hamilton the daughter of T. Robert and Ella (Carter) Allen. On November 17, 1945 she married Donald Clifford LeRoy at First Baptist Church of Hamilton in a double wedding ceremony with her sister, Edna Allen Wehrley and George Wehrley. Don and Emma just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past November. Emma graduated from Hamilton High School in 1940 and Miami University in 1965, and then went on to teach third grade at Hayes Elementary in Hamilton City Schools for 23 years. She was an active and beloved member of the First Baptist Church of Hamilton and taught Sunday School and the Children's Choir. She was fond of music, especially sacred hymns of which she sang in the choir and ensembles. Other spending time with their friends and family, Emma and Don loved to travel, especially Europe where they visited seven times.

Mrs. LeRoy was also a member of Butler County Retired Teachers and Ohio Retired Teachers. She volunteered at the Fort Hamilton Hospital gift shop for over 15 years, and worked with people new to the United States to teach them how to speak and write the English language at the YMCA's "Each on Teach One" organization.

Emma is survived by her loving husband and companion, Don; children, Donald C. (Jo) LeRoy, Jr. of Fairfield, M. Kathy (Larry) Weaver of Fairfield, and Robert (Susan) LeRoy of Lakeland, FL; grandchildren, Anna Daulton, Sarah Weaver, Christy LeRoy and Dylan Bateman of Fairfield, Jonathon LeRoy of Athens, OH, Cari (Eric) Feder, Christopher LeRoy, Lindsey (Michael) Dreyer and Allison LeRoy of Lakeland, FL; and great-grandchildren, Zachary Feder; Katie Feder, Jacob Feder and Ashlyn Faith Dreyer of Lakeland, FL, John Daulton, Anthony LeRoy and Joseph LeRoy of Fairfield.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday April 21, 2006 at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield, OH 45014 with Dr. Dennis Metzger and Rev. William C. Brantingham officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
