French Lee Smoot

French Lee Smoot, age 67 of Fairfield, passed away at Mercy of Fairfield on Saturday, January 3, 2004. He was born March 30, 1936 in Maysville, KY, the son of Harry French and Zola Lee (Combs) Smoot, who preceded him in death. On June 13, 1970 he married Brenda Leonard in Bentonville. French served in the US Army and was later employed at Princeton Jr. High School for 28 years as a math teacher, retiring in 1998. He was a member of the National Model Railroad Association, Cincinnati Division 7, MCR, and the Cincinnati Northern Model Railroad Club. French was also a member of Disciples Christian Church and also attended St. Mark's United Methodist Church. He worked part-time at Golf Manor Hobbies.

He is survived by his wife Brenda of Fairfield; daughters, Suelee Lynn Litman of Blue Ash and Alison Anne Smoot of Fairfield; grandsons, Jackson Tyler Litman and Cameron Lee Smoot; sister, Sally Wakeland of Louisville, KY; nephew, Mark Wakeland also of Louisville; aunt, Goldie Zimmerman of Hazard, KY; other cousins and special friends; special in-laws, Hubert and Mildred Leonard of Bentonville, and Dale and Jean McDaniel of Georgetown.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 7, 2004 at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield. Burial will follow at Kirker's Cemetery in Adams County, OH. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association, 8899 Brookside Ave., #2, West Chester, OH 45069.
