Gary Lee Benson

Gary Lee Benson age 77, of Fairfield Ohio, passed away on August 10th, 2024, surrounded by his wife and children. He was born on July 17, 1947, to Carl B. and Martha Ann (nee Banker) Benson. He married Deborah A. (Combs-Beyer) Benson on June 12, and they were married for 31 years. He graduated from Fairfield High School, class of 1966. Gary worked at the Fairfield Police Department (1971-2000) retiring after 29 years. After retirement he worked for Fairfield City Schools helping with security. After having heart problem, he then worked as an EA both in the classrooms, and on the special need buses. After retirement in 2000, he took the family to Disney World for a week which still he talked about. Before and after retirement Gary and Debbie enjoyed their cabin at Lake Cumberland, boating, going to his brother Mike's farm, riding horses, fishing and cookouts with their beloved dog "Maggie", auctions, and flea markets, but most of all, he loved being with family.

Gary is survived by his wife, Debbie; children C. Todd (Emily) Benson, Tiffany Benson, Matthew (Stephanie) Benson, Jennifer (Beyer) Crail (Michael), and Brian (Natasha) Beyer; His brother Carl B. (Andrea) Benson; Grandchildren, Logan Hurtt, Nolan Hurtt, Brynnlee Benson, Adelynn Benson, Morgan Crail, Mason Crail, and Miles Crail; Great-grandchild Theodore (Crail) Smith. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother Mike; and sister-in-law Sharon. He leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins, brother, and sister-laws. He was a lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hamilton, Ohio.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. – until the time of Funeral Service (1:00 pm), Monday, August 19, 2024, at the Avance Funeral Home and Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield, OH 45014 with Pastor Kevin Jud officiating.
