George L. Chapman

January 17, 1925 — January 26, 2004

George L. Chapman, age 79, of Fairfield passed away on Monday, January 26, 2004 at Mercy of Fairfield. He was born in Hamilton on January 17, 1925 the son of William and Ida (Morgan) Chapman. On April 5, 1951 he married Joyce Buell in Hamilton. George served his country in the US Army during WWII. He worked majority of his life for the Journal News and the Dayton Daily News as a printer and Fairfield Pharmacy for the last 12 years making deliveries to those in our community. George was a very loving and caring man to everyone, especially his daughter and granddaughter, to whom his world evolved around. He also enjoyed the friends and the fellowship at Hanover Men's Breakfast.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Chapman of Fairfield; daughter, Nancy Sharkey; sister Louise Meeker; nieces Debbie Gabbard and Sharon Connaughton; and granddaughter, Skylyn. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William Jr. and Corliss Chapman; and sisters, Alberta Bagley, Sally Brown, Alice Kiefer and Sophia Smith.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 29, 2004 at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield with David Hargrave officiating. Burial will follow at Millville Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Make-a-Wish Foundation.
