Listen to Obituary

Gracie (née Proffitt) Goebel, age 87, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2025, in Hamilton, Ohio. Born on December 17, 1937, in Laurel County, Kentucky, Gracie lived a life marked by devotion to her family, her faith, and her community.

Gracie began her professional journey in real estate with determination and passion. She earned her Real Estate License in 1969 and went on to achieve her broker's license in 1974. Her dedication and success in the field were recognized through her lifetime membership in the Ohio Million Dollar Club. Though she officially retired in 1995, Gracie maintained her real estate license until 2017 so she could continue advising others with their real estate needs-a testament to her enduring commitment to helping others.

Beyond her career, Gracie was deeply involved in church life and service. Gracie was currently a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Hamilton, and in previous years was a member of Rolling Hills Baptist Church in Fairfield and East River Rd. Baptist Church also in Fairfield. She held numerous roles over the years including Youth Leader, Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School Director, Senior Adult Ministry Leader, as well as Clerk and Treasurer for various church-based organizations. Her faith was a guiding force throughout her life and shaped much of how she served those around her.

Gracie was a loving wife to Wilburn J. "Joe" Goebel and a devoted mother to three daughters: Debbie Dixon; Cindi McIntosh and her husband Lee; and Patti Goebel. She found immense joy in being a grandmother to Katie Dixon; Dan Dixon and his wife Kerstin; Chris Goebel and his wife Chelsea; Annie Stewart; and Jacob Langevin. Her love extended even further to her great-grandchildren: Raelan, Tanner, Holden, Lenox, Madilyn, and London-each of whom brought light into her later years.

She is also remembered fondly by her brothers Roy Proffitt; Troy Proffitt and his wife Donna; and Rusty Proffitt. Gracie cherished many nieces and nephews throughout her life and shared a special bond with her niece Michelle Tepker and nephew Mike Proffitt.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Joe Goebel; parents George and Ellen (Sergent) Proffitt; brothers Art Proffitt (Jan), Leonard Proffitt (Jean); sister Martha Hemming (Waldo) and sister in law, Kathy Proffitt.

Gracie's warmth extended far beyond family ties. She had a gift for making others feel welcome-whether through a home-cooked meal or an afternoon spent playing cards. She loved traveling when she could but found the greatest joy in spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Gracie's legacy is one of steadfast faith, tireless service, deep love for family, and an unwavering spirit that touched all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those who mourn her passing.
